“We simply had to meet the strong demand of the operator SmarTone,” says Pupeter of this move into the field of ‘second’ mobile phone. SmarTone wants to not only reach the older target group with the handset, but also business users. For them the emporiaELEGANCEplus offers an easy to use alternative to their ‘work’ mobiles for spare time.
With a market penetration of 210% Hong Kong has the biggest concentrations of mobiles worldwide. “We are confident that we will meet our goal of one percent market share,” says Eveline Pupeter: “Even in highly technologically developed markets like Hong Kong people wish to have a phone that is easy to use and user friendly.”
During the launch event in Hong Kong Ian Hosking, from the Engineering Design Centre of Cambridge University, presented on the subject of inclusive design, creating products that don’t exclude anyone from the use. This way older people can use them as easily as the rest.
